Save the Date for Carey’s Biggest Family Fun Event!
“Fun in the Sun” brings together Carey students, families, faculty, staff and alumni for a day of fundraising and fun.
The Day
Join the entire Carey community for our annual Walkfest, starting at 10:30 am sharp on the Serra High School track (next door to Carey). We’ll walk, run and raise money until 1:00 pm. After walking, we’ll continue the celebration at Serra with lunch and games until 2:30 pm.
Walkfest is online!
You will be able to register, volunteer, sponsor Walkathon participants and purchase lunch and Carey shirts and merchandise online via the Carey homepage (www.careyschool.com). Our objective is to make the process easier, more accessible and more efficient for the entire Carey community. Stay tuned for more information as school starts.
Raise $$$ for the School
Our goal is for every child to raise $300 or more through his or her own personalized fundraising webpage.
Be a Part of “Fun in the Sun”
- Volunteer to help (earn your revenue-generating volunteer hours)
- Buy a t-shirt and other Carey spirit merchandise
- Sponsor a faculty or staff member to walk or enjoy Walkfest
- Run with the Carey Relay Runners
- Cheer for the children as they walk
- Buy lunch tickets
- Participate in games and activities
T-Shirt and Merchandise Sales
Congratulations to Kate Folsom, Justin Lim and Melinda Ma, winners of the 5th grade t-shirt design contest! The children show their Carey spirit by wearing their t-shirt on Spirit Days.
- $15/shirt or $50 for a family-pack of four t-shirts
- Carey School stadium blankets – $20 each
- Child’s Umbrella – $15 each
- Get them during the following back to school events:
- New Family/Mentor Summer Party (8/21, 10-12 noon)
- New Family Orientation (8/25, 4-5 pm)
- First week of school on the patio (8/31-9/2)
- Back-to-School Night (9/15, 5:30-8 pm)
- First CSPA meeting (9/21, 6:30 pm)

Carey Relay Runners
Join a team of parents, grandparents, faculty, staff and alumni who run in a baton-passing relay during the Walkfest. Sponsor these runners to raise money for the school. To participate, please contact Mary Beattie ().
Walkfest Awards
Every student who participates in the Walkfest will be a winner and receive an award. If a child cannot attend the Walkfest or walks less than 4 laps, he/she will still be counted as a participant if he/she raises a minimum of $75. Following is a summary of the major awards given.
- Eagle Grand Champions – Based on a student’s own effort for the number of laps walked. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded. Look for medal lap ranges by grade on the Carey website and in the Eagle’s Eye after the start of school.
- Fitness Grand Champion – Awarded to the boy and girl school-wide who walk the most laps.
- Spirit Grand Champion – Awarded to the student who raises the most money.
- Super Eagle Grand Champion – Awarded to the faculty / staff member who walks the most laps.
“Fun in the Sun” Lunch and Festival
Once you finish walking at Serra High School, join us for lunch and fun at Serra High School from 12:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
- Lunch and admission tickets are $15 each. Tickets may be purchased online beginning the first week of school via The Carey School website.
