Elaine Cheung and Don Low’s daughter, Maya Low, is in 4KB and we love the community and experience at Carey! One way Elaine has gotten involved at Carey was to help initiate a Mandarin ASA, and to help coordinate a medical working team for school reopening during Covid.
Career-wise, Elaine’s passion is to innovate and build successful businesses at the intersection of medicine, technology and business. She’s currently the SVP of Corporate Strategy & Business Development at Lyell Immunopharma, a cell therapy company focused on curing solid cancers by harnessing the body’s own immune cells. Prior to that she was a VP at Mindstrong, a company focused on delivering improved mental healthcare. Previously, Elaine was head of Business Development at GRAIL (early detection of cancer from the blood), Illumina (industry leader in DNA sequencing technologies), and Genomic Health (diagnostic test to help breast cancer patients make improved clinical decisions).
Elaine earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences and an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering, both from Stanford University, where she was also a Mayfield Fund Fellow.
