Pre-Kindergarten

We know that four and five year olds are beginning to understand that they have much more agency in their world.Much of this confidence comes from a shift in their abilities both cognitively and physically. They are ready to make more abstract connections, such as connecting elements of stories to their own personal experiences, extending simple patterns or understanding how their words might make a friend feel. With the development of their language and social skills comes the opportunity for small group collaboration, as well as the conflict that accompanies it.

We know that Pre-K students are able to sit for longer periods of teacher directed instruction  Their greater understanding of rules and systems allows them to engage in games and small group work. Children in this stage are so curious and will invest deeply in their learning if the topics revolve around their interests or passions.
