Tuition and Financial Aid

The Carey School believes in developing and sustaining a socioeconomically diverse student body. This commitment to inclusion is an essential part of Carey’s mission.

We allocate more than $1,000,000 annually in financial assistance, which is allocated to current and newly admitted students on the basis of demonstrated need. This is determined by factors such as income, family size, assets, and liabilities.

The financial aid committee makes every effort to maintain a student's financial aid award throughout his or her entire career at Carey, when there is no significant change in a family’s financial situation. Families do need to reapply for financial aid annually, submit all forms as requested, and meet the stated deadlines.

All admission decisions are made without consideration of a family’s financial circumstances. After the admission committee makes its decision, a separate financial aid committee reviews the completed financial aid applications for both current and newly admitted students.

To ensure objective analysis of parent financial information and provide a standardized calculation to determine financial need, The Carey School uses the services of Clarity .

The Carey School Financial Aid program is designed to make a Carey education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. The Carey School is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools. 

Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as The Carey School requires you to upload additional tax documentation including the most recent two years of W-2s,  1099s and IRS Form(s) 1040 or 1040A and he Carey Financial Aid Supplemental Form.. 

The deadline for completing the financial aid application including relevant supplemental documents is November 30, 2024 for current Carey families and February 7, 2025 for new prospective families. 

If you need support during the process of completing your application, there is in-app support available through the “Help” button in the bottom left of the screen, as well as email at support@clarityapp.com in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish. 
 

Applying for financial aid for returning students & applying sibling applicants:

• November 30, 2024: Deadline for submitting all financial aid application information via the Clarity Application 
• February 5, 2025: Financial aid decision letters emailed

Applying for financial aid for prospective students:

• February 7, 2025: Deadline for submitting all financial aid application information via the Clarity Application
• March 20, 2025: Admission and financial aid decision letters emailed
